Aims & Scope
Aims
Sustainability in Design and Practice (SDP) is a gold open access, peer-reviewed journal that that offers a new platform for industry professionals, academics, policymakers and managers to exchange their research outcomes, ideas, findings and practical experiences in a wide range of scientific, technological and engineering designs and practices that share a common overarching theme of promoting sustainability. Designing for sustainability is a way of creation that considers the social, environmental, and economic impacts of a design. Sustainable designs tend to reduce waste by making products and system components that are safe, recyclable, compostable, or even better – infinitely and circularly reusable, while also minimizing Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions. It can be applied in many domains, such as architecture, engineering, transportation and product development. While sustainability practices are actions that support the health of the environment, society, and economy, based on the idea that resources are limited and should therefore be used wisely and conservatively, considering the long-term consequences of how they are utilized.
The journal shall publish original research papers, topic reviews, critiques, short communication, standards and certification reviews and special issues organized by thought leaders in their expertise areas. SDP also encourages prospective authors to publish the outcomes of their recent theoretical and experimental developments, as well as innovative suggestions in appropriate breadth and depth so that results can be replicated and adapted by the community to promote sustainability in the world. It is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.
